Typically, Chiropodists / Foot Specialists:

  • Consult with patients and other physicians on how to prevent foot problems.
  • Treat ulcers, foot deformities, skin and nail pathologies.
  • Perform soft tissue surgeries to correct or remedy such problems as ingrown nails, clawtoes, hammertoes and infections.
  • Prescribe therapies and perform procedures such as ultrasound therapy.
  • Prescribe topical and oral medications.
  • Prescribes or fits patients with inserts called ORTHOTICS that correct walking patterns and alignment issues.
  • Treat conditions such as: bunions, corns, calluses, cysts, heel spurs, infections, ingrown nails, and plantar fasciitis.

A Chiropodist and or Podiatrist is a qualified foot specialist. Chiropodists and Podiatrists are primary health care providers, and are regulated foot professionals educated exclusively in the assessment and treatment of foot disorders.
